Locking Pin

A company that’s in the oil business produces very large, extremely durable 4” thick plastic pads that are locked together to form a solid continuous surface for use in a variety of military and industrial applications, such as helicopter landing pads. These thick plastic pads are connected using very large, specially-designed pins.

Because the terrain on which these pads are used is often uneven, using the pins to connect the pads is often a challenge. A solution needed to be found to bring the pads together into proper alignment, and then lock them into place.

Over the course of two years, multiple mechanical engineers at multiple companies had failed to find a solution for how to make this locking pin reliably work for installations in all types of terrain. Miro solved the puzzle in a matter of days! And his solution—having two things that turned, with one located inside the other—didn’t even require new tooling, which would have been a multi-million dollar expense.
