Automated FlexLoad Machine
This automated machine loads cylinders into the STUDER CNC Cylindrical Grinder. When Miro was hired as the Design Engineer Consultant for this project there was already a prototype, but the design for this prototype did not function as desired. Miro redesigned the unit to fix and improve upon the original design, while also meeting some new design requirements.
- Added a firewall, as required by OSHA for safety
- Increased the thickness of the Plexiglas panel, for improved safety
- Used welded steel to make the frame
- Redesigned the front door and front drawers
- Added locating pins so that when the outer panels are removed and put back into the unit, they will always be in the correct position maintaining the gap in between panels.
The end result: A well-functioning machine, and a design that was accompanied by precision blueprints and files for proper fabrication and assembly.
